Designing High Impact Training

Overview
You know the performance problem. What’s the best way to address the problem? How can you assure that the training you create is going to work?

This module presents a simple instructional design model and teaches some of the tricks of the trade. The result? A quick and dirty – but highly effective – method of designing training that works!

Performance Outcomes
As a result of participating in Designing High Impact Training, you should be able to:

  • Follow a simple design and development process.

  • Create learning objectives that direct the learner and define the training.

  • Create assessments that are linked to learning objectives.

  • Perform a task analysis.

  • Create high impact learning activities based on five content types and two levels of instruction.

Activities
The activities begin before you even get to the training! The precourse introduces you to five content types and how to best train to each; this information is “tested” in the training using a bingo format. Other activities include objectives writing (using a case study), developing assessments, analyzing tasks, and creating engaging instruction and job aids.
