Dr. Christensen believes that many companies fail because of "good management practices." Dr. Clayton Christensen theorizes that the very practices that help a company grow through incremental product improvements (called sustaining innovation) prevent the company from recognizing and capitalizing on more extreme - or disruptive - forms of innovation. Not recognizing and acting on disruptive innovation has brought many companies to inglorious ends. Furthermore, according to Dr. Christensen, the skills that make for good management and leadership - strategy, market planning, customer focus - often thwart innovation and growth and can drive a successful company to failure.

Thank you for providing such a wonderful set of training materials for the participants of The 2006 Linkage Excellence in Management & Leadership Series. It was very clear that the materials were well-researched and provided an accurate assessment of my research. The materials were especially engaging and written in such a way to facilitate learning for the participants. Thank you for doing such a fine job!

Best regards,

Clayton Christensen With best wishes for a disruptively successful future.
